The Department of Infectious Disease (Hepatology) of the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University, established in 2006, has developed into a key medical discipline built by provincial and municipal governments and a Class I key discipline in Hangzhou, integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The department has an infectious disease subspecialty, a liver disease (refractory liver disease) subspecialty and a liver tumor subspecialty. The infectious disease subspecialty undertakes some fever and intestinal outpatient services. The liver disease subspecialty provides specialized outpatient services for fatty liver, refractory liver disease, cholestatic liver disease and pregnancy-related liver disease. The department has two inpatient wards (60 beds) for infectious and non-infectious diseases, a teaching and research office of infectious diseases and a laboratory of hepatology and metabolism. There are currently 3 professors and chief physicians, 3 associate chief physicians, 2 associate senior nurses, 4 attending physicians, 2 senior nurses in charge, 5 resident physicians and 18 senior nurses (nurses); 4 doctors and 10 masters; 2 doctoral supervisors and 5 master's supervisors; 2 deputy chairmen and 3 members of national medical associations (youth), 1 chairman of a provincial association, 1 deputy chairman and 2 standing members of provincial and municipal associations. The Department of Infectious Disease (Hepatology) now has become a national drug clinical research center and a national clinical diagnosis and treatment center for fatty liver.

The Department of Infectious Disease (Hepatology) offers diagnosis and differential diagnosis services of various infectious diseases (communicable diseases) in the hospital, provides guidance for the rational use of anti-infective drugs and controls infectious diseases and emerging infectious diseases. Insisting on combining clinical practice with scientific research, the department has conducted systematic and in-depth research and construction on the basic and clinical practice of non-infectious liver disease and liver cancer, with distinctive characteristics and obvious advantages.
