[Discipline Technology Capacity]

The Hangzhou General Hospital has more than 2000 in-service employees, including more than 430 senior experts and more than 430 doctors and masters. There are 50 clinical and technical departments, with outstanding advantages in clinical disciplines and a complete array of specialized disciplines. Among them, the clinical prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis with integrated Chinese and Western medicine is the key discipline of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, cardiology, craniocerebral traumatology, hepatology are key disciplines jointly built by the provincial and municipal governments, otolaryngology head and neck surgery is the key discipline in municipal-level colleges and universities, hepatology, clinical cognitive psychology, stomatology, sports medicine, cardiovascular internal medicine, preventive treatment of disease with traditional Chinese medicine, and intensive care medicine are municipal-level key medical disciplines. Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Surgery, Orthopedics, Respiratory Medicine, and Emergency Medicine are hospital-level key medical disciplines; Thyroid, Breast and Vascular Surgery are hospital-level key medical disciplines. The Medical Laboratory takes the lead in Hangzhou to pass the ISO15189 review by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS). The Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center are nationally board-certified. Hangzhou Dental Care Quality Control Center, Hangzhou Hospital Medical Record Quality Control Center and other medical quality and academic centers are set up in the hospital.

In the context of the comprehensive cooperation between Hangzhou Normal University and Hangzhou Health Commission to build "disciplinary peaks", create "Hangzhou benchmark" and promote the high-quality development of the hospital, focusing on the disciplinary development goal of "building a strong cardio-cerebrovascular discipline, a large-scale gastrointestinal discipline, and a refined respiratory discipline" and "a well-established cardio-cerebrovascular discipline will enhance the strength of all disciplines; fully reinforced surgical disciplines will contribute to a leading hospital", the General Hospital integrates well-known scholars and high-level talents from the hospital and the Hangzhou Normal University as "dual-employed principal investigators", to vigorously promote the construction of disease centralization and disciplinary subspecialty groups, and continuously advance the in-depth integration of clinical practice and scientific research innovation. The Adolescent Mental Health Center, Metabolic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Comprehensive Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Heart Center (Chest Pain Center), Stroke Center, Trauma Center, Minimally Invasive Abdominal Surgery Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Cognition and Brain Disorders Center, and Endoscopy Center of the hospital have enjoyed rapid development, and the hospital has seen significant advantages in comprehensive diagnosis and treatment. Characteristic centers such as the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Sports (Marathon) Medical Research Center, Pediatric Sleep Center, Vertigo Center, as well as a number of subspecialty groups represented by the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, have also witnessed rapid development, forming a characteristic brand.

The Deqing Branch Hospital currently has more than 60 employees with senior professional titles and more than 110 employees with intermediate professional titles. With 23 clinical departments, 10 medical technical departments and health management centers, it has effectively undertaken the medical treatment tasks in Deqing and the surrounding areas. The medical technology featuring minimally invasive surgery is becoming stronger, with more mature discipline capacity building, gradually building up a new pattern of modern medical treatment of focus-oriented development, specialties with characteristics, talents with expertise, and finer specialties. [Scientific Research & Innovation]   
      The hospital has set up provincial and municipal research institutions including Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory for Research in Assessment of Cognitive Impairments, Hangzhou Translational Medicine Center and Hangzhou Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, three key institutes in Hangzhou Normal University for child and adolescent mental health, liver disease and metabolism, and oncotherapy of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine, as well as the Cognitive and Brain Disease Research Center, in order to place emphasis on major and priority diseases, build a clinical research center, improve the scientific research platform and expand the clinical research team, thus carrying out multidisciplinary theoretical innovation and practical exploration, and improving the ability to obtain major research projects, conduct high-level research, and publish high-quality papers.
      In the past five years, more than 320 research projects have been approved, including more than 46 national, provincial and ministerial projects, more than 179 department and municipal projects, receiving more than RMB 28 million for scientific research. The hospital has published more than 912 academic papers and 6 works, and granted 26 patents. More than 40 scientific payoffs have been awarded, including one first prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress for cooperative research, one second prize of Science and Technology Progress of Ministry of Education, one second prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology, and one third prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress for independent research.

   [Medical Education]

The hospital, together with the School of Clinical Medicine and School of Stomatology of the Hangzhou Normal University, boasts a perfect cultivation system for bachelors and masters of clinical medicine and stomatology, etc. The hospital has 6 schools including internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, and pediatrics, as well as clinical skills centers, with a total of 24 teaching and research offices. It has undertaken the teaching work of full-time postgraduates, undergraduates, overseas students, and adults in more than 40 medical colleges and universities inside and outside the province. At present, its clinical medicine specialty is "a discipline in the first-class undergraduate program in Zhejiang", "a provincial key demonstration center for experimental teaching in Zhejiang under the 13th Five-Year Plan" and "the first-class discipline in colleges and universities in Hangzhou". Obstetrics & Gynecology has won the award of provincial top-quality course, Internal Medicine, Medical Imaging and Prosthodontics have won the award of municipal top-quality course and Periodontology has won the award of municipal top-quality "bilingual" course; the teaching results have won the first, second and third prizes of the school successively.

In 2020, the theoretical qualified rate for the exit examination of medical students was 100%, and the qualified rate for the skill was 98.6%, with the overall qualified rate ranking eighth among the province's residency training bases. The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) for clinical medicine specialty rank top 1% worldwide. The qualified rate for the national qualification examination for practitioners of its graduates ranks in the top tier of medical colleges and universities nationwide. The hospital has participated in the provincial college student medical competition for six consecutive years and won the first prize in successive years, being the only one to maintain the record throughout the province.

[Construction of Medical Treatment Combination]

Relying on city-county close-knit medical treatment combination + high-level county medical alliance, the hospital innovates the management system and operating mechanism, to set up a high-quality, efficient, and integrated medical health service system offering basic medical services, preventive care services, and public health services at the grass-roots level. It implements the "double allocation, two improvements" as required, and the close-knit medical treatment combination of Chun'an Branch Hospital and Changhua Branch Hospital achieved double excellence in the province's assessment. The cooperative construction of community health service centers in Gongshu District is prompted, the inpatient ward of Taoyuan Branch Hospital is under all-round trusteeship, and three community health service centers of Gongchen Bridge, Daguan Shangtang, and Taoyuan have passed the united authentication of the international KTQ medical treatment combination, greatly improving the homogeneous management level.

   Furthermore, the hospital takes the initiative to strengthen the cooperation with more than 10 grassroots medical institutions including Tongxiang, Anji, Longquan and Renhe in Zhejiang Province as well as Xuancheng and Huangshan in Anhui Province, so as to continuously improve the technical skills and service level at grassroots.

[Hardware Construction]

A 10-storey Teaching Complex Building on the east side of the hospital has been put into use, along with the dormitory buildings for medical students, sports ground, etc., providing better support for the hospital to "integrate medical care and medical education".

As epidemic prevention and control becomes the new normal, the hospital is initiating and optimizing the reconstruction and expansion project of the Outpatient Complex Building in full swing, in order to strengthen the management and effective handling of public health emergencies. An Outpatient Complex Building with 13 floors above the ground and 2 floors below the ground has been newly built over 5 years to further strengthen the hardware facilities in the hospital and improve the patient's medical experience.

   Over 70 years of ups and downs, the hospital has been widely recognized by society and industry for adhering to the concept of running the hospital with "benevolent mind and acts, universal love and abundant knowledge".
