General practice is a comprehensive medical discipline oriented to community and family and integrates clinical medicine, preventive medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and humanities and social sciences. It is an L2 clinical discipline with the aim to emphasize long-term comprehensive and responsible care that takes humans as the core, family as the unit, community as the scope, and overall health maintenance and promotion as the direction. The Department of General Practice of the hospital was established in November 2017 and consists of outpatient clinics, wards, and teaching and research room for general practice. It currently has 26 clinicians and teachers, 10 general practitioners, and 2 full-time teachers, including 5 chief physicians, 5 associate professors, 2 associate chief physicians, 3 doctors, and 5 masters. The department has 30 beds in the inpatient ward, with more than 20,000 outpatient visits and more than 500 discharged patients throughout the year. The department undertakes the teaching work of students of Hangzhou Normal University School of Medicine and interns and is the clinical base for general practice of the national standardized training base for resident physicians.
