The Department of Clinical Laboratory is a key discipline both in the hospital and in Hangzhou. There are 18 experts with senior professional titles, 2 doctors, and 15 masters. The department integrates medical treatment, scientific research and teaching, and consists of professional laboratories including the clinical immunology laboratory, biochemical laboratory, clinical microbiology laboratory, gene amplification laboratory, AIDS primary screening laboratory, and outpatient (emergency) laboratory.

Academic status: The department has established a long-term cooperation relationship with the laboratories of universities and hospitals at home and abroad such as the United States, Shanghai and Beijing, and has completed a number of scientific research cooperation projects with Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Zhejiang Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

It has held a number of projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, Health Commission of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Hangzhou Municipal Health Commission, and has won the third prize of Zhejiang Medical & Health Science and Technology Innovation Award, the third prize of Hangzhou Government Science and Technology Innovation Award, and the third prize of Zhejiang Natural Science Achievement Award for many times.

In addition, it has sponsored national continuing medical education training courses on New Techniques and Application Progress of Laboratory Medicine for many years.
