A total of 7 experts with senior professional title, including 5 doctors and masters, are introduced in the discipline. The discipline is centered on the treatment of severe head injury, focused on the rescue of cerebrovascular diseases, and characterized by the minimally invasive treatment of brain tumors. The physicians in the discipline are skilled in the resection of various intracranial tumors and surgical treatment of spinal cord diseases. They have performed successful deep brain tumor resections, internal carotid-cavernous fistula repairs, giant intracranial aneurysm embolizations and other difficult surgeries, and achieved satisfactory results.

Department of Neurosurgery, founded in 1993, is a modern specialist department integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research and developing in an all-round way. It is a key discipline built by Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou Province, a key medical specialty in Hangzhou City, and a key discipline in the hospital. It is composed of the main members of Hangzhou Traffic Accident Rescue Center. The Department of Neurosurgery is equipped with various advanced equipment and devices, including 1.5T/3.0T MRI scanners, 3D digital subtraction angiography machines (DSA), 320-slice CT, Johnson & Johnson intracranial pressure monitoring and mild hypothermia treatment equipment, imported operating microscopes, neuroendoscopes, imported head frames, cerebral oxygen and cerebral temperature monitors, and neuro-interventional cath labs.

Adhering to be "professional, concentrated and specialized", the department makes full use of its advantages in an interdisciplinary setting and resource sharing and integrates treatment, prevention, rescue and scientific research of craniocerebral injury, cerebrovascular diseases and intracranial tumors. In the department, the success rate for the rescue of severe craniocerebral injury using mild hypothermia, progesterone therapy, neural rehabilitation and other new technologies reaches the domestic advanced level. As the department is accelerating the pace of development of neurosurgery subspecialties (to establish brain function subspecialties, neurophysiological monitoring, neurointerventional minimally invasive intracranial aneurysm embolization, neurological intensive care, neural rehabilitation, etc.), it follows the idea of "development driven by scientific research, brands created by innovation". The department has participated in the Center for Cognition and Brain Disorders of Hangzhou Normal University, obtained provincial natural funds for more than ten scientific studies, published 15 SCI papers in the past 5 years and more than 45 first-level journal papers, and participated in the compilation of 5 monographs. In addition, the department holds national and provincial continuing medical education training courses every year, with many staff holding positions in academic institutions: Vice Chairman and Young Member of Zhejiang Neurosurgery Branch; Standing Member and Member of Zhejiang Society of Neuro-oncology; Member of Neurosurgery Branch, Zhejiang Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; Member of Zhejiang Society for Neuroscience; Chairman and Member of Hangzhou Neurosurgery Branch; provincial and municipal medical malpractice appraisal experts. The department often invites domestic and foreign peers for a visit and academic exchange, and regularly dispatches employees to neurosurgery centers in the United States and at home for further study. In the department, 2-3 masters every year will be recruited. Besides, the department undertakes teaching works for the standard training of undergraduate students in multiple colleges, resident physicians and universities and refresher physicians.

Meanwhile, the Department of Neurosurgery has a highly efficient and highly competent team, composed of senior nurses with years of specialist nursing experience, highly educated nurses who received strict professional training, and young nurses who are outgoing and competent.
