Responsibilities:

It is a key discipline of the hospital. The department is reasonably structured with 52 medical staff, including 5 chief physicians and professors, 4 associate chief physicians, 5 doctors and 8 masters. The medical staff of the department has solid professional theoretical knowledge to standardize the treatment of common and frequently-occurring gastrointestinal diseases and possesses extensive clinical experience in various intractable diseases. It performs routine examinations such as gastrointestinal endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, enteroscopy, and endoscopic ultrasonography. It is skilled in various endoscopic operations of the digestive tract. As a national standardized training base for Resident Physicians, it undertakes various teaching and clinical scientific research work.

Academic status:

The department has successively undertaken 2 programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 programs of Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, 8 scientific research programs of provincial health department and Hangzhou City, and successfully held many seminars on endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. In recent years, it has won 5 provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards.
