Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is a key discipline of the hospital, which conducted cardiovascular surgery early in Hangzhou, and has been included in the cardiothoracic surgery training base. It is equipped with 18 beds and sets up a cardiothoracic surgery postoperative recovery room, cardiac ultrasound room, and fiberoptic bronchoscope room. It is one of the authoritative diagnosis and treatment centers for cardio-thoracic vascular diseases in adults and children in Zhejiang Province. Key equipment of the department includes Draeger Evita 4 ventilator; Fresenius Multi Filtrate hemodialysis machine; Shanghai AirInSpace T2006 plasma air disinfection machine; TEC-5531C defibrillator; Radiometer ABL80 blood gas analyzer; OLYMPUS bronchofiberscope; microwave therapeutic apparatus for lung tumor; Maquet_HL20 extracorporeal circulation machine; Philips ECIQ7C and portable CX50 cardiac ultrasound machine.
In cardiac surgery, a variety of surgical methods, including standard median thoracotomy, minimally invasive small incision, and complete thoracoscopy are adopted for extracorporeal circulation, minimally invasive incision occlusion, and ultrasound-guided percutaneous occlusion. Surgery covers most cardiovascular surgical diseases, involving aortic dissection, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, and coronary heart disease. The operative mortality and complication rate are far lower than the average in China. The operations carried out by the department have been reported on CCTV 2, CCTV 7, and CCTV 4 multiple times, as well as on media of Zhejiang Province and other provinces and cities.
In general thoracic surgery, specialized outpatient clinics for pulmonary nodules are set up, and a multidisciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment center has been established in collaboration with the respiratory department, radiology department, and pathology department. The department treats a large number of patients with chest trauma every year and has gained rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of rib fracture and sternal fracture. Major operations including lobectomy, segmentectomy, and sleeve resection under thoracoscope and radical resection of pulmonary carcinoma, radical resection of esophageal carcinoma, resection of enlarged thymoma, lung volume reduction, and radical resection of locally advanced lung cancer under complete thoracoscope are routinely performed.
