Responsibilities:

There are currently 3 employees with senior professional titles and 3 with intermediate professional titles in the department, including 3 masters. The department has performed the following surgeries earlier in Zhejiang Province: extended horizontal supraglottic hemilaryngectomy for "laryngeal cancer", extended frontal lateral hemilaryngectomy + laryngoplasty with myocutaneous flap + laryngeal function reconstruction, 3/4 laryngectomy + laryngeal function reconstruction, near-total laryngectomy, total laryngectomy + hypopharyngeal and esophageal anastomosis, hypopharyngeal and cervical esophageal cancer resection + esophageal replacement with the trachea, minimally invasive treatment (endoscopy + laser) to remove vocal cord polyps, cysts, nodules, vocal cord leukoplakia, laryngeal papilloma and other benign lesions, as well as functional endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps. Besides, it is one of the few departments in the province that carry out various types of tympanoplasty + artificial ossicular implantation for chronic otitis media. A vertigo specialist outpatient clinic was first opened in the city to effectively determine vertigo diseases such as otolithiasis, vestibular neuronitis, and Meniere's disease using instruments such as electrooculograph, vestibular autorotation device, pure tone audiometry device, acoustic immittance instrument, and brainstem auditory evoked potential, and to carry out personalized vestibular function training. In addition, there is rich experience in otorhinolaryngological diseases such as ear congenital diseases, nasal congenital diseases, sleep apnea syndrome (referred to as snoring), thyroid surgical diseases, epistaxis, esophagotracheal foreign bodies, deafness and tinnitus, and allergic rhinitis. It has strong technical strength and advanced equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of various complex and refractory otorhinolaryngological diseases. More than 1500 cases of otorhinolaryngological surgery are completed annually, including more than 500 cases of four types of surgery.

The department has established cooperation with PLA General Hospital, Beijing Xuanwu Hospital, Shanghai Eye & ENT Hospital and other domestic hospitals with strong otorhinolaryngological strength. Then, it invites top domestic medical experts for regular visits and surgical exchange, aiming to continuously improve the overall technical level of the department.

Academic status:

It is a large-scale otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery department in Zhejiang Province, a key medical discipline in Hangzhou City and a key discipline in the hospital. It also serves as a standard training base for resident physicians in Hangzhou and a clinical practice teaching base for colleges and universities.

The discipline leader and a number of experts with senior professional titles hold the following positions: Member of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association; Member of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Oncology Professional Committee, Zhejiang Anti-cancer Association; Member of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Branch, Hangzhou Medical Association.
