On September 24, the Academician Forum on "Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases and Construction of a Medical Consortium" opened. It was co-sponsored by the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University and Chinese Cardiovascular Association. At the forum, the Association for the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases in Gongshu District was inaugurated at the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University. The association was established to further build a community model of a medical consortium for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and a chest pain treatment unit, and to explore "a model with Gongshu's characteristics" for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in the city. To improve community-level prevention and control of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, five academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences gathered in Hangzhou. They are Duan Shumin, a professor of Zhejiang University, Shang Yongfeng, President of Hangzhou Normal University, Ge Junbo, Honorary President the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University, Chen Yihan, Vice President of Tongji University, and Song Baoliang, Vice President of Wuhan University. The forum also brought together other academicians and cardiovascular experts from many related fields to carry out a "brainstorming" session online and offline.

The establishment of the Association for the Prevention and Treatment of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases in Gongshu District, Hangzhou, was led by the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University. The association aims to build a joint treatment and tiered diagnosis and treatment system for acute chest pain in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, explore an urban model "with Gongshu's characteristics" that can be replicated and promoted in other areas, and remove obstacles for patients with chest pain or a stroke to get treatment, thus better protecting the life, security and health of the people. In the next stage, the association will take supporting the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative and Healthy Hangzhou Initiative as its mission, and further promote the continuous improvement of community-level health and medical care services by carrying out popularization, education and business consultation of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and introducing and promoting new medical technologies and achievements.
